The instant the apprentice wizard peeled open the covers of that terrible book, her mind was assailed with visions of a dark and distant place: a place of nonsense, a realm of things that should not be. She felt a thousand skittering realities sliding across each other like paper against skin—a myriad of deep and unfathomable eyes turning in her direction, burning away her grasp on her surroundings with their impossible gaze—a throng of tendrils emerging from the book and wrapping around her wrists, wet with a cold and viscous fluid that hissed as it met the air—her head, oh gods, it hurt so much—

She slammed the book shut, cutting short its theater of terror. Bewildered, she looked around at the room, only to find it exactly as she left it. No eyes, no tendrils, no paper-thin realities; it was all in her mind. She slid the book back into the shelf before it could tempt her curiosity again.

In the depths of the planarverse, long past the boundaries of the outermost planes most scholars are familiar with, a convalescence of strange and awful worlds pulse and grow, a cosmic tumor feeding on the fabric of reality—a “multiverse of things that shouldn’t be,” according to the archmage Mordenkainen. This plane, the Far Realm, is the ancestral home of most aberrations, a world suffused with twisted psychic energy and horrors beyond imagination.

Manuscripts from the Far Realm is an exploration of the Far Realm and its aberrant masters. This illustrated guide includes tips for exploring the Far Realm, stat blocks for aberrant cultists, and profiles for six Elder Aberrations—godlike entities that rule the Far Realm—and more!
